Gastric band hypnotherapy involves the use of hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
What does treatment involve?
Gastric band hypnotherapy involves the use of hypnotherapy, NLP, and CBT techniques to convince individuals that they have had a gastric band fitted but without the fears, risks, cost and side effects of going through the actual surgical procedure.
One of the key benefits of hypnotherapy is that it may also help to address any emotional and psychological issues which have caused an individual to begin overeating in the first place.
The first meeting will be an initial consultation, looking at eating habits, weight loss methods already tried, mental health and attitude towards food and your first hypnotherapy session.
There are 4 sessions in all.
The "procedure" itself will be intended to mimic that of the real surgical procedure, often implementing the use of sound and smell to make the experience more authentic. The hypnotherapist will take you into a deeply relaxed state. In this state of deep relaxation your subconscious can then be accessed and you will be far more susceptible to positive suggestion.
You will then be taken through the "operation" step by step and throughout the "procedure" though you will be deeply relaxed, you will still remain aware of what is going on around you. Your hypnotherapist will take you through the entire "procedure", from being put under the anesthetic to the first incision, to the closing of the gastric band to having the final stitch put in.
Along with patients own willpower, the procedure may be able to help them to reduce their response to hunger and eat less when they do eat.
Some individuals may achieve on-going weightloss with continued will power but others may need to return for further support and therapy.
Additional follow up sessions may involve the use of CBT as this may help individuals to identify and understand their actions and take responsibility for them. This technique may help a great deal in preventing the same actions from reoccurring in the future. Other techniques such as visualisation may also be used at some stage. For instance you may be asked to picture an item of clothing which you love but do not fit into after gaining weight. Your practitioner may ask you to visualise yourself wearing this item once again so next time you are planning on overindulging or are going to eat even though you're not truly hungry, this image of you will come into mind and should act as a deterrent.
Clients are often encouraged to return for a long term weight management session where the practitioner may often discuss and formulate a maintenance plan which will help them to maintain their weight on a long term basis.

So, so pleased with my Gastric band hypnosis. It has really worked for me and I have lost two stone since April. The sessions are always very relaxing and the back up from Laura is brilliant. I am so pleased to have had my 'virtual' gastric band fitted. I definitely felt the benefits from it and that my appetite had decreased. Thank you Laura.
I have just had my last session with Laura and it has been amazing. I was 17 stone 11 pounds when I first met Laura I am now 15 stone 12 pounds. Not only has she helped me lose weight, she has given me back my confidence. I would recommend anybody that is having trouble losing weight to give it a try. The only thing I will say is that you have to want to lose the weight and believe in the Hypno band - I do and it is working. So glad that I did it and it's certainly working for me thank you Laura.
